So everyone has had the experience of not being able to read something because of low light, poor print quality, etc. The link above goes to a blog post about someone who has low vision needing help from her spouse to read a menu. Right or wrong the spouse observes that she should use "that low vision equipment" to read the menu. Now, I have to say, I'm actually on the side of the spouse (!!). You pay a fortune for low vision aids, there is no getting around it. What do you do when you find out how limited they can be in how much they can help? That realization can be very hard to swallow; not just over the money but also, you want that person to have some independence and (I hate the word) normalcy.
There are no simple answers for either party; you make do, you get by. Read the blog post, you'll get it.
