Bastille Day

If my father were still alive my parents would today have celebrated 35 years of marriage. I'm afraid that is all I have to say about that.

What is wrong with people?

For the record: Don't Trust Me by 3OH!3 is as insultiing a song as you think it is. Not one of us should listen to it and not be uncomfortable. I can only hope that soon it will go by way of Paris Hilton but I'm afraid the damage is already done.

Something I Realized

Despite the popular cultural image of the bumbling husband who forgets his wedding anniversary I never have. I have a hard time remembering what year we got married (I don't know why) but not the date.

Rules to teach my son

So a while back I posted about the 1001 Rules for My Unborn Son (
http://rulesformyunbornson.tumblr.com/). I would like to tell you about some rules I will teach my son as he grows.

- Always raise a glass to the health and well being of your family and friends.

- No matter what your humanity is the greatest gift your mother and I have ever bestowed on you.

- Learn to recognize wisdom when it is before you.

- Always trying to be the best is exhausting; helping others to achieve restores the balance.

- Falling in love is always worth it.

- You are always a work in progress, no matter how hard you strive to finiish.

I guess that's about all I have for now.

Oh well...

In this world of people who find accountability distasteful we must take the time to recognize those that care about doing good work.

"It reminds me of when I used to play my violin in the subways and Harvard square back in the '80s, often with friends, and sometimes even string quartets, and there was some cellist who we often met who played there too. He'd play in the streets and subways stations of MA for about 6 months before he'd get fed up with how little he'd make compared to the playing in the streets of Paris. He'd say how much more respect street musicians got there. Here in Boston they just get just treated like bums. But darn it all, in Paris they always teased him about his Boston accent. He just didn't seem to be able to speak french and sound like a true parisian. He could only take that teasing for 6 months then he'd be back in Boston to be treated like a bum for 6 months again. Once we didn't see him for almost a year. We tried to find out what had happened. Well I guess his flight to Paris once had a very long wait at the airport in Madrid where he had to change flights, and he met some nice young lady there and decided to stay in Spain instead. It is to bad street musicians can't get more respect here in Boston like the get in Europe. I just hope his Boston accent was more acceptable in Spain"

Well...

The road to Hell, and an empty blog, is paved with good intentions. So maybe we all should have just voted down the income tax, who knows? The library has lost over $250,000 to date and stands to lose even more. At least we could have something to point at and say "well, we have no income tax revenue, that's why."

I hope I don't lose my job and I hope more people don't lose theirs.

I just finished a book recenlty and it is a very long but satisfying read.

I'll keep at it, I hope you all do to.

Really bad at this

So as usual I have ignored this blog. Fortunately it isn't a living thing, I'll take the lack of guilt where I can.

There is one expression I could live the rest of my life without ever hearing again:

"No, I don't know how to use the computer."

This statement is pregnant with traps and snares and anyone who has worked in any technology service center knows what I am talking about.
